“Two dudes met. They fell in love. They lived. That’s our story.” - Adam Silvera
Not only is this the perfect quote for Pride Month, it’s also the quote on our YA queer bookshelf…. because queer literature shouldn’t be read only in June. Last year we published a blog post about Queer Literature this year we are doing things a bit differently. We asked a bit before June our Book Dragons about their queer recommendations and we received quite some titles. The month has passed but these books will stay forever. Let’s see their advice on queer literature:
Your recommendations
Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston (in our shop)
Loveless by Alice Oseman (Heartstopper in our shop)
Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat (Dark Rise in our shop)
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun
Heated Rivalry by Rachel Reid - mentioned several times ^^ (in our shop)
And They Were Roommates by Page Powars (in our shop)
The Borrow a Boyfriend Club by Page Powars
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid (in our shop)
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller (in our shop)
Call me by Your Name by André Aciman
Cleat Cute by Meryl Wilsner (in our shop)
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (in our shop)
Gwen & Art are not in Love by Lex Croucher (in our shop)
Greenteeth by Molly O'Neill (in our shop)

Then there are the books I read last month. I tried to publish only queer titles on Instagram so these are the ones you’ve already seen there as well (except Oscar Wilde because I technically didn’t finish the book in June).
The ones I read
The House of Now and Then by Edward Underhill
Arcana: The Lost Heirs by Sam Prentice-Jones (YA)
Dirk Jones is NOT the Chosen One by Gatlin Perrin (middle grade+)
The Girl from the Sea by Lee Knox Ostertag (YA)
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (book club pick - intermediate)
You thought I was already done? No, not yet! Because I also started listening/selecting some audiobooks (why stop at reading physical books, right?!).
The ones I listened
On Sundays She Picked Flowers by Yah Yah Scholfield (small paperback getting out in October!!)
Almost Life by Kiran Millwood Hargrave
This Must Be the Place by Kelly Quindlen (YA)
Where You'll Find Us by Jen St. Jude (YA)
Hope you found some inspiration thanks to our Book Dragons!
